Portales, NM – The Roosevelt County Commissioners and staff are inviting members of the public to the New Roosevelt County Road Maintenance Barn Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. The new facility is located at 1320 North Boston in Portales. The Roosevelt County Commission successfully utilized a combination of State Capital Outlay funding and County general funds to construct the new facility. The construction cost for the 8,000 square foot facility was $616,133.

“We have one of the best Road Departments in the state and the new Road Barn was long overdue,” stated District V Commissioner Paul Grider. “ It’s large enough for equipment service, office space for road personnel and room for safety and staff meetings. Roosevelt County can be proud of this new facility.”

The Commission awarded the bid to Nixon Enterprises, Inc. on April 27, 2021, and construction began September 2021.

“On behalf of the Roosevelt County Road Department, we would like to thank the Commissioners and Legislators for recognizing the need for a new barn in our community,” said Road Superintendent Rick Lovato. “With their help, our new facility is not only a welcoming addition to our department, but a morale booster to our valued employees. Without the capital outlay funding this would not have been possible and we certainly appreciate everyone`s help who was involved.”

The Roosevelt County Road Department is responsible for over 1,200 miles of County Maintained Roadways. For more information regarding this event please contact County Administration at 575.356.5307.
