Board Members

Below are the current board members for the Roosevelt County Board of Commissioners and the districts they represent.

	Commissioner David Sanders Chairman of Board District 2 • Republican David Sanders is a native to eastern New Mexico. He was born in Clovis and moved to Roosevelt County in 1955. Sanders is married and has four children. He is a retired farmer/rancher, enjoys going to church with his family and participates in The Walk to Emmaus. Sanders has been a county commissioner for 14 years. He is thankful for what Roosevelt County has given him and wants to give back to the county through his leadership.
	Commissioner Jake Lopez Vice Chairman District 1 • Democrat Jake Lopez has been a resident of Roosevelt County since 1960 when he married and settled here to start a life and family. Since that time he has been blessed with six children, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Jake has worked for La Casa Family Health Center for 32 years. He is the Maintenance Supervisor for four clinics located in Clovis, Portales, Hondo, and Roswell. Jake has been dedicated to serving his community for many years. He served 14 years as a City of Portales Councilor and 10 years as County Commissioner, terming out in 2000. He is now serving his first term after being away for eight years. He cares for and wants to serve all the people of Roosevelt County in any capacity possible, not just those within his district.
	Commissioner Bill Cathey District 3 •Republican Bill Cathey has been a resident of Dora all of his life and is currently serving his first term as a board member. He has been married for 12 years, and has four children, two boys and two girls. Cathey also has a granddaughter. Cathey has owned and operated Bill's Welding and Metal Art since 1984. He is working on improving the county through his leadership and one of many priorities is improving the road conditions throughout the county.
	Commissioner Paul Grider District 5 • Democrat Mr. Grider has lived in Roosevelt County all of his life. He is married and has four daughters. In Paul’s spare time he enjoys nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Grider is currently serving his second term on the board. Paul is very concerned about improving Roosevelt County, one of his priorities is improving the county roads thus improving the quality of Roosevelt County.
	Commissioner Gene Creighton District 4 • Democrat Gene Creighton has lived in Roosevelt County all of his life. He is married and has two children. Creighton is currently serving his second term and has been a member of the board for five years. He is passionate about improving the quality of the county and is working towards improving the road conditions in Roosevelt County.
